PayByPhone launches in France

The Parisian suburb of Issy-les- Moulineaux recently became the first location in France to introduce mobile phone payment for parking using the Verrus PayByPhone service.

The service has been introduced on street across 5000 spaces by Mobile Payment Services SAS in partnership with pay and display provider, Parkeon and parking operator, VINCIPARK SA.

In this application the tariffs, enforcement and back office reporting for the PayByPhone service are all controlled by Parkeon’s Parkfolio networked system which links all of the Parkeon pay and display machines to a central PC. This allows tariff upgrades and account reporting for both systems to be done from the one central point.

If the service proves successful, it is likely to be extended in the near future to a further seven cities across France.

Commenting at the launch of the service, Philippe Lerouge, CEO of Mobile Payment Services, the company which provides the PayByPhone operation in France, said “ This is a great day for French motorists who can finally experience the convenience and benefits of paying by phone which motorists across the rest of Europe have been enjoying for some time. I am sure that other towns and cities in France will be watching with great interest.”
