Britannia switches to PayByPhone at Gala Bingo Sites

Bournemouth-based Britannia Parking, one of the UK’s leading parking operators, has turned to PayByPhone to provide payment by mobile phone facilities at a number of its managed Gala Bingo car parks. The service was previously managed by RingGo.

Commencing in June, PayByPhone will operate at six Gala sites, mainly in the north west of the UK, with the service likely to be extended to other sites later in the year.

Britannia also intends to offer the PayByPhone service at a number of its managed Travelodge car parks around the UK. Travelodge has become a major client for Britannia, with a number of Travelodge hotels enjoying premium parking locations such as London Docklands and Blackpool’s South Shore.  Providing a facility to pay by mobile phone was seen as an obvious addition to Britannia’s customer service offering with Travelodge.

“With a daily tariff regime in operation at many of these sites, it makes sense to offer the PayByPhone solution so people don’t have to look for change when they arrive to book in.  PayByPhone is attractive financially and we have been impressed with its market penetration of over 1.5 million registered users – there will be many business guests from across Britain who have already signed up to use PayByPhone and will find it very convenient to be able to call and pay when they arrive at a Travelodge hotel,” commented David Skull, Operations Manager with Britannia.

“We are delighted to be working with Britannia and to be offering its customers a system that gives them more choice than any other mobile phone payment provider both in terms of the way they pay and register for the service,” added Robin Bevan, CEO of Verrus UK. “Mobile phone is fast becoming the most popular way for people to pay for parking as it puts an end to the frustration of trying to find the right money, not getting change back when you don’t have the right amount, machines being out of action and having to rush back to move the car when your time is up."

PayByPhone is provided by Verrus UK, part of the Paypoint Group.
