Council chooses PayByPhone to provide cashless parking across the borough

LONDON, UK, 1 May 2019 – PayByPhone, the global leader in mobile parking payments, today announced that it will replace Dash as the exclusive cashless parking provider for Enfield from 1 May 2019. Drivers will be able to use PayByPhone’s services to pay for parking at 25 key locations across Enfield, including Cockfoster, Enfield Town, Palmers Green and Southgate, and covering a total of 2,000 on- and off-street parking spaces.

PayByPhone users can choose to receive text message reminders before a parking session expires and can also extend theirparking sessions remotely in accordance with the car parks’ terms and conditions, with the Extend-From-Anywhere feature. This feature is now also available to users with an Apple Watch using watchOS 4, allowing parking to be extended directly from the watch.

Councillor Guney Dogan, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment says:“We are delighted to be working with PayByPhone to make parking easier and more convenient for our residents and visitors. Being able to extend parking times via mobile devices means drivers can make the most of the borough’s shops and facilities without having to worry about rushing back to their vehicles. This offers great flexibility if appointments run longer than planned or if they decide to stay for a bite to eat or more shopping.”

In addition to the cashless parking and Extend-From-Anywhere benefits, PayByPhone users can now also use the recently launched Maps and the Nearby Parking features. The Maps feature allows drivers to locate parking before they leave for their destination and pin their vehicle location onto the map once they have parked. The Nearby Parking feature instantly provides drivers with the closest PayByPhone parking location number upon their arrival.

Hannah Fuller, Client Director for PayByPhone UK, says: “We are very excited to launch PayByPhone in the London Borough of Enfield. Mobile parking payments have many advantages to the individual and to the local authority. Not only does it make the parking experience more hassle-free, it also greatly reduces vandalism and the cost of maintaining the pay and display machines.”

PayByPhone encourages drivers to download the app now, so they are ready to use the new service from the minute it goes live. Registration is very simple and takes less than 30 seconds.

PayByPhone has been active in the United Kingdom since 2011 and currently helps drivers easily pay for their parking. The service is also available in nearby Barnet, Broxbourne, Haringey, Hatfield, Waltham Forest and Welwyn, making it even easier for drivers commuting between locations. In Haringey PayByPhone even helped completely eliminate the use of pay-and-display machines, giving the council the full benefits of going cashless.
