Council chooses PayByPhone to provide cashless parking across the district
Hatfield, Hertfordshire, 4 February 2020 – PayByPhone, the global leader in mobile parking payments, replaced RingGo on 1 February 2020 as the mobile parking payment provider in Newark and Sherwood’s offstreet car parks, available in six locations across the district, covering 760 parking spaces.
New signage has gone up in the car parks to alert residents and visitors that the location codes have changed. Once the free PayByPhone app has been downloaded, drivers can easily identify the location number of the car park using the Nearby Location feature. PayByPhone users can also choose to receive text message reminders before a parking session expires, and can then extend their parking sessions remotely in accordance with the car parks’ terms and conditions, via the Extend-From-Anywhere feature. This feature is also available to users with an Apple Watch using watchOS 4, allowing parking to be extended directly from their wearable device.
Councillor Keith Girling, Deputy Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, says, “We are delighted to be working with PayByPhone to make parking even easier and more convenient for our residents and visitors. Being able to extend parking times via mobile devices means drivers can make the most of our shops, restaurants and other local amenities without having to worry about rushing back because their parking time is about to expire. The Extend-From-Anywhere feature offers great flexibility particularly if appointments or meetings run longer than planned, or if people decide to have a bite to eat or do more shopping.”
In addition to the cashless parking and Extend-From-Anywhere benefits, PayByPhone users can also use the Maps feature, which allows drivers to locate parking areas before they leave for their destination, and then pin their vehicle location once they have parked.
Adam Dolphin, Sales Director for PayByPhone UK, says, “We are very excited to launch PayByPhone in Newark and Sherwood, and we encourage everyone to download the PayByPhone app so they are ready to take advantage of this service with a new provider. The registration is very simple. It takes less than 30 seconds, and to make it more recognisable and familiar to users, we have included an image of the famous Newark Castle on the home screen. We also offer customers a 24-hour helpline which is free to call from mobile phones, so if they are unsure of anything, or have any questions about using our app, they can contact us at any time.”
A short video has been created by PayByPhone and Newark and Sherwood District Council, showing some of the area’s well known attractions and beauty spots, and giving the new PayByPhone parking codes for the nearby car parks, making it as easy as possible for visitors to find and use them.
