Drivers in the UK can now use the parking app in seven languages
LONDON, UK, 17 April 2019 – PayByPhone, the global leader in mobile parking payments, today announced that UK drivers can now use its parking app in Welsh.
Welsh is the first language for more than 885,000 residents of Wales, so the addition of Welsh to the PayByPhone service will help make the app more accessible, enabling more people to pay via their mobile as opposed to paying at a pay station. In 2018, PayByPhone also added Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Punjabi and Spanish to its app functionality.
Councilor Richard Young, Cabinet Member for Communities at Bridgend County Borough Council, says: “We are always looking to make it easier and simpler to park across the Borough, so we’re really pleased that PayByPhone is now available in Welsh. This means more people living across the Borough will be able to switch to cashless parking in the available car parks, which offers a more convenient alternative to pay-and-display machines. Having this language option should see the number of people switching to cashless parking rise as people across the county realise the benefits it provides.”
To gain access to the newly supported Welsh language within PayByPhone, drivers can simply download the latest version of the app and set their iOS or Android device to Welsh.

PayByPhone has been present in the United Kingdom since 2011 and currently helps drivers easily pay for their parking in cities including Newcastle, Manchester, Bournemouth, and seven London Boroughs. The service also includes a variety of convenient features, such as text message reminders that are sent before a parking session expires, and the option to extend parking sessions from anywhere, even a smart watch.
