VERRUS UK LAUNCHES PAYMENT TRIAL WITH LONDON BOROUGH OF BARNET

Verrus UK Ltd, the company that specialises in mobile payment systems for parking, launched its service with London Borough of Barnet at the start of October.

The Verrus service is available at five of the Boroughs largest car parks and, enables motorists to use their mobile phone to pay for car parking. Using the Verrus system motorists can pay by either calling a local number (0208 127 0999) or via SMS text.

Says Robin Bevan, CEO of Verrus UK: “We’re delighted to be working with London Borough of Barnet and to be offering motorists a system that gives them more choice than any other mobile phone payment provider both in terms of the way they pay and register for the service. Our research, shows people find our system easy to use with many benefits for disabled people, who don’t have to leave their car to buy a ticket for example or those who are hard of hearing who can pay by text.”

Councillor Andrew Harper, cabinet member for environment and transport, says:  “Many people simply don’t want to carry change for their parking and would rather pay by credit or debit card. Cashless parking has been a success when used elsewhere and I have no doubt it will be taken up by many people parking in Barnet over the coming months.”
