Customer registrations soar as PayByPhone launches in Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Holmfirth

Kirklees Council has awarded PayByPhone a two year contract to provide cashless parking services in over 5,000 parking locations in Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Holmfirth.

Customers parking in these areas can now choose from a range of convenient and innovative ways to pay by phone instead of having to search for the right change every time they park their vehicle.

Following the examples of Hackney, Isle of Wight, Bridgend and Tunbridge Wells, Kirklees Council has become the latest local authority to launch in 2012 with a PayByPhone service.  This recent run of new service launches has continued after a very successful and busy end to 2011 in which the PayByPhone service was rolled out to another seven local authorities within just three months.

The number of customers registering for PayByPhone and making parking payments has recently risen dramatically, reaching over 1 million monthly parking payments.   Whilst availability in new areas has contributed to this increase, the most noticeable growth has been in the number of customers using the PayByPhone apps to pay for parking.

The PayByPhone app is available to iPhone, Android and Blackberry users, helping customers to register and pay for their parking, manage their PayByPhone account, add or delete vehicles and update their payment card details.  Additional features include a map showing where their vehicle is parked, a video demonstration of how to use the service and customer support services via access to the most frequently asked questions and useful telephone numbers.

“In recent months we have seen the number of app downloads soar, increasing by 125% month on month,” comments Robin Bevan, Commercial CEO at PayByPhone.  “The fact that customers rate our app higher than any other phone parking app, across all three platforms, is a great testament to how much customers like to use it.  This will help us to continue to grow customer registrations and parking payments for all our clients.  We are delighted to be working with Kirklees Council, where customers started to register for PayByPhone before the service was launched.
