PayByPhone heads north of the border
Phone parking service now available in South Ayrshire
PayByPhone, formerly known as Verrus, is now working with South Ayrshire Council giving consumers the option to pay for parking using their mobile phone. The service is available in Barns Crescent, Charlotte Street and Kyle Street car parks in Ayr, providing a quick and secure way for consumers to pay from the comfort of their car.
Offered alongside Pay and Display machines, consumers can now choose to pay by mobile phone without the need to find the exact change for the machines.
Following a simple one-off registration process which captures the vehicle registration and payment card details, the consumer can pay to park using their mobile in less than a minute. Whilst registering, they can also choose to receive text reminders that tell them when the parking session is about to expire, so they can extend it without returning to their car.
Robin Bevan, Commercial CEO from PayByPhone, comments: "We are delighted to be working with South Ayrshire Council, our first phone parking client in Scotland and a valuable addition to our ever growing client portfolio. The PayByPhone service provides many benefits for local authorities and the local community; not only does it offer a secure, quick and easy payment option for motorists, but it also helps to support local retailers as consumers shop for longer because of the convenience of extending a parking session without having to return to their car.'
The service is easy to use. Consumers can register and pay by phone, mobile web, PayByPhone app and online in advance at home. Payments and statements can be monitored easily and securely on the PayByPhone website.
South Ayrshire joins a long list of parking operators in the UK that now offer PayByPhone parking payments. Others include Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, York, South Lakeland, Lincoln, the City of Westminster and the London Boroughs of Barnet, Islington and Tower Hamlets.
